Sea Life Jelly Discovery

My Mother's Group is still going strong after two and a half years and today was my turn to host. I created lots of messy play activities for the kids to explore. But one of the favourites was the Sea Life Jelly Discovery.

This activity needed a bit of prep. I made up the jelly according to the packet instructions the day before. Blue and Green for a Sea Theme.

Once the jelly was set I used a fork to kind of mash???? it up.

Both jellies added to a large bowl and slightly mixed.

In go the Sea Creatures ready for discovery.

Master T was very inquisitive.

Having a good look and thinking about whether to touch the "cold" jelly.

Miss G was right in there and busy naming all the creatures she could see.

Miss L was the most interested and at 19 months the most daring. She wanted to hold the whole bowl.

She was very keen to show me what see could find.

Lots of touching and squeezing and a couple of little tastes!

Much fun was had with this activity. Lots of naming of creatures, feeling and tasting. Even a little bit of jelly throwing. Was very interesting that the girls were far keener on this than the boys. Will certainly be doing this one again, maybe with a  garden theme. I also recommend doing this one outside as the jelly doesn't always stay in the bowl and is indeed rather sticky!! Not that, that was a problem, the dog soon sorted it out!

Enjoy!
